According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 19.3 square miles (50 km2), of which, 19.2 square miles (50 km2) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.10 km2) of it (0.10%) is water.
Goldsby is closely tied to its neighbor to the south, Washington. As Goldsby has no post office, mail comes through the Washington post office (zip 73093). Also, Goldsby falls within the boundaries of the Washington public school district. However, Goldsby provides Washington with other resources such as fire department and water services. Both communities and their residents are listed in the nearby local Purcell area phone book.
The largest casino in Oklahoma (Riverwind Casino) is located in Goldsby on State Highway 9.
As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 1,204 people, 458 households, and 355 families residing in the town. The population density was 62.5 people per square mile (24.1/km²). There were 507 housing units at an average density of 26.3 per square mile (10.2/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 87.13% White, 5.15% Native American, 0.08% Asian, 4.65% from other races, and 2.99% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.73% of the population.
There were 458 households out of which 36.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.8% were married couples living together, 6.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.3% were non-families. 18.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 3.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.63 and the average family size was 3.01.
In the town the population was spread out with 26.2% under the age of 18, 9.8% from 18 to 24, 30.1% from 25 to 44, 24.5% from 45 to 64, and 9.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 109.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 108.7 males.
